Champlain College is a private institution accredited
by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Unlike
state colleges and universities, we are free from governmental
budget control. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees
made up of community and business leaders, alumni, and other private
citizens. The Board is the legal owner and final authority of
the College.
Champlain's independence allows us to adapt
quickly to the ever changing and fast-paced job environment. We
are continually adding degree programs based on feedback from
the business and professional world. Harvard might review its curriculum
once every thirty years, according to an article in the New
York Times (October 19, 2002), but Champlain makes annual
curriculum revisions, updates and additions; this keeps our education
relevant and our graduates prepared for the demands of the workplace.
We also make every effort to hire professors
who bring real world experience to their teaching. Our faculty
has the requisite academic training you would expect, but the
Champlain classroom experience is enriched because professors
are current practitioners in the field. Couple that with Champlain's
emphasis on technology in the classroom in every major, and you
can see why our job placement rate for graduates is so high.
